Back in the day when times was rough and
men (especially cowboys) worked from dawn to dusk with few if any breaks, tools
and equipment came into being that could help out..
Some of these tools greatly helped the
cowboys at the end of the day, when lifting and holding on to 'some things' that
was just too much at the end of them long days..
Now know too, that the pride of the cowboy
was his boots, and many at the end of a long cattle drive, would head to the
general store to buy a new pair..
One piece of the new equipment, a cowboy
would never admit that the real use for was to help hold in place a certain
thing because he was just too tired to handle it, came to be known as a boot
saver..
I recent came by one of these old tools,
and a photo of it is attached...
On close examination, I think you'll see
how in fact it performed two functions..It relieved one of holding certain
things in place, and it did in fact, in a way, save them new
boots......................
